Every Desert Dune Buggy Dubai tour is a guided self-drive experience. You operate the buggy and follow a professional guide on the designated route. The briefing, correctly fitted safety equipment and responsible driving are essential parts of the experience. Off-road driving carries risk, so guidance and protective equipment do not make it risk-free.

Driver and passenger eligibility

Our usual minimum buggy driving age is 16. Passengers may be accepted from age 3 in an appropriate multi-seat buggy, subject to vehicle restraints, equipment fit, supervision and guide approval. An RS1 has one seat and cannot carry a passenger. Confirm eligibility for your actual group before paying.

Tell reservations about any concern that could affect safe participation. Buggy riding is not advised during pregnancy or for guests with relevant back, neck, heart or mobility concerns. The operator may decline participation when the activity or equipment is unsuitable.

Before the buggy moves

  • Attend the vehicle orientation and safety briefing; ask the guide to repeat anything you do not understand.
  • Wear the provided helmet and goggles correctly and keep the required restraint fastened.
  • Keep loose clothing, hair and personal belongings secured as instructed.
  • Understand the guide’s signals, the expected following gap and the procedure if you need to stop.
  • Complete the required identification and waiver procedures before departure.

Follow the guide throughout the ride

Remain on the route selected by the guide. Keep the instructed distance from the vehicle ahead, stay in the agreed order and do not overtake or drive away from the convoy. Racing, drifting, zig-zag driving and other unsafe manoeuvres are not permitted. Do not try to catch up by driving beyond your ability.

The guide adapts the route and pace to ability, terrain, visibility and weather. Tell them if you feel uncomfortable or need a slower pace. Experience from road driving or another off-road activity does not replace the vehicle briefing or the guide’s instructions. Driver changes take place only at approved stops and with permission.

If you stop or need assistance

Follow the procedure explained at the briefing. Do not attempt an unfamiliar recovery manoeuvre, leave the designated route or place yourself beside moving vehicles. Let the guide organise assistance. Report a warning light, unusual vehicle behaviour or a problem with a restraint as soon as you can do so safely.

Insurance and vehicle responsibility

Do not assume road motor insurance covers this off-road activity or that personal accident cover is included. Read the booking and damage-liability terms and the actual waiver. Guests are not charged for ordinary wear or mechanical failure that is not attributable to misuse; damage arising from a driver’s accident or conduct is assessed under the agreed terms.

For a first ride, read the beginner’s guide and preparation checklist.
