Dubai’s dunes offer strong shapes, changing light and an impressive setting for buggy photographs. Good pictures begin with a planned stop and the guide’s permission. Drivers must keep their attention on the route and controls; they must not hold a phone or camera while driving.
Plan photographs around approved stops
Tell the guide at the briefing that you would like photographs. They can identify a suitable viewpoint and explain where your group may stand. Keep clear of vehicles and follow instructions about parking and moving around the dunes. Photo opportunities depend on the route, conditions and the time available.
A standard scenic photo stop does not automatically include a professional photographer, edited images or an action-camera rental. Request any additional photography service before confirming your booking.
Use light and composition simply
- Early or late light can reveal the curves of the dunes through shadows. Compare morning and sunset rides when choosing your slot.
- Take a wide view of the landscape, a parked-buggy photograph and a group picture to create a varied set.
- Avoid pointing directly into strong sunlight when a different safe position gives a clearer image.
- Keep the horizon straight and leave space around the vehicle rather than cropping parts of it.
Phone photography at the stop
Clean the lens with a suitable cloth before taking pictures. On most phones you can tap your subject to set focus and adjust brightness if the bright sand makes the image look washed out. Take a few frames and check the result while stationary. Portrait mode can be useful for a person beside a parked buggy, while a normal or wide camera works better for the landscape.
Keep your phone secure when the ride resumes. A passenger’s ability to take pictures depends on the operator’s instructions and the equipment arrangement; being a passenger is not permission to lean outside the vehicle or loosen a restraint.
Cameras, mounts and dust protection
Ask before bringing a large camera, attaching a mount or placing equipment on a buggy. Use only an arrangement approved by the operator. Equipment must not obstruct controls, restraints or protective gear. Keep spare equipment closed and secure, and avoid changing lenses in blowing sand. You are responsible for your personal equipment unless another arrangement is expressly confirmed.
Do not request drifting, racing, jumps or unsafe manoeuvres for an image. A planned photograph of a parked vehicle and the desert can be memorable without changing the tour’s safety rules.
Choose a suitable tour
An RS1 tour gives each eligible driver their own buggy, while Can-Am tours and two-seater Polaris tours suit shared experiences. Longer driving packages give a different tour duration; they do not automatically include a larger photography package.
