Choose how your group will ride
The Polaris RS1 gives one eligible driver an individual buggy. A two-seater Polaris RZR carries a driver and passenger, while the four-seater suits a driver with up to three eligible passengers. Can-Am Maverick X3 tours offer another two- or four-seat option.
A more powerful model is not permission to drive faster or beyond your experience. Ask the team about vehicle suitability, seating and the length of ride you would enjoy.
Learn the controls before departure
During the briefing, the guide introduces the steering, accelerator, brakes, restraint and operating instructions for the actual vehicle. You also learn the signals, following distance and what to do if you need to stop. Ask questions and make sure you can understand the instructions before leaving the base.
Correct helmet, goggles and restraint use is required. Tell the guide if any item feels unsuitable or if a control is unfamiliar. A short article cannot replace this vehicle-specific orientation.
Build confidence with your guide
Follow the route and the pace set for you. Keep the instructed gap and avoid sudden, unapproved manoeuvres. Tell the guide if you feel nervous or want to slow down. The experience should reflect your ability rather than another driver’s confidence.
Do not attempt to copy online dune-driving techniques, overtake to keep up or leave the guided route. Racing, drifting and unsafe zig-zag driving are not permitted. The guide’s assessment of terrain and visibility takes priority over a requested pace.
Can two guests take turns driving?
Driver changes may be possible during an approved stop if both guests meet the requirements and the guide gives permission. Tell reservations before booking if you want to share driving. A two-seat buggy does not mean both guests drive at the same time, and an RS1 has no passenger seat.
Choose a realistic duration
Packages offer 1 hour, 90 minutes or 2 hours of guided driving. Select the duration that fits your group and the rest of your day. Check-in, safety preparation and hotel travel require additional time. Scenic stops and sandboarding are scheduled according to your confirmed arrangement and conditions.
