A Dubai dune buggy experience brings together a practical vehicle briefing, guided self-driving and time in the red-dune landscape. Knowing the sequence helps you plan the rest of your day. This guide covers the itinerary; use our separate preparation checklist for what to bring and wear.
1. Confirm the details before travelling
Choose your vehicle, driving duration, date and number of guests. The reservations team checks availability, confirms the price and explains any payment arrangements. A booking request does not reserve a vehicle by itself. Keep the official confirmation and use the meeting instructions supplied for your activity.
You can arrive independently or request a private hotel transfer at additional cost. Your hotel journey is separate from the booked buggy driving duration.
2. Check in at the desert base
At the confirmed meeting location, the team checks the booking and the drivers/passengers taking part. Required identification and participation procedures are completed before departure. Tell the team about any uncertainty over eligibility or suitability rather than waiting until the buggy is ready to leave.
An RS1 carries one driver. A two-seater carries a driver and passenger, and a four-seater carries a driver and up to three eligible passengers. Families should confirm ages and restraint fit before booking.
3. Meet the guide and prepare the vehicle
Your guide explains the controls, driving rules, following distance and the procedure if you need to stop. Put on the supplied helmet and goggles and use the vehicle restraint correctly. Ask questions at this stage; it is better to be clear before setting off.
You drive the buggy yourself and follow the guide. The tour does not include permission to drive independently, race or overtake.
4. Drive the dunes for your selected duration
Choose 1 hour, 90 minutes or 2 hours of guided driving. The guide selects the route and pace according to experience, terrain, visibility and conditions. The experience can suit first-time guests who meet the requirements, but suitability is assessed individually.
If sharing a multi-seat vehicle, driver changes may be possible at approved stops when both guests meet the requirements and the guide agrees. Confirm this request in advance.
5. Enjoy appropriate scenic stops
The itinerary can include scenic photographs and sandboarding when conditions allow. The guide chooses suitable stopping points. Ask reservations how stops are scheduled in relation to your driving time and allow the additional time stated in your confirmation.
Guests should keep phones and belongings secure while driving. Read the photography guide if pictures are a particular priority.
6. Return to the base or continue to dinner
Follow the guide back, return supplied equipment and complete checkout. Guests with a booked transfer use the agreed return arrangement; self-arriving guests depart independently. A buggy-and-BBQ dinner booking has a longer itinerary that continues to a shared desert camp with separately confirmed dining and transport details.
